Stranded color work mitten - Estonian/Nancy Bush

This mitten is inspired by Nancy Bush’s Folk Knitting in Estonia. I liked the mitten on page 98-99, but changed the braids and then found a mistake in the part with the nupps.
I decided to just leave my mitten the way it is - - hard to see, but no little nupp flowers, but here is a corrected chart for the lines in question.

Stranded color knit hat

This is the hat for my grandson, spun from lambswool from our sheep. I used a two color cable cast on and then did three rows of herringbone braid from Charlene Schurch's book Hats On. The herringbone edge turns under and I haven't decided if this is good or bad. On the positive side it gives a nice finished look to the edge, on the other hand one can only see half of the large v-shape.

Stranded colorwork!

The stranded colorwork challenge - - just the thing to kick it up a notch. I was going to make my soon-to-be-five grandson a hat anyway using the small amount of dark brown yarn left over from the basketweave scarf I knit for my husband. It will take a bit of spinning today to get enough white for the project from the white ewe lamb we kept this year. Then I should be able to swatch tomorrow. I have a plan…. It involves the neat two color chevron braid in Charlene Schurch’s HATS ON!

Scarves for friends and relatives. Thanks to Audrey for the blue shiny yarn I knitted with the recycled sari silk and also for the peach wool I plied with the pale pastels I had dyed.

The pale blue/grey scarf is a Yarnharlot pattern from October 06 blog. It is super easy. Cast on 26 stitches, add or subtract by multiples of four she says, but it seems to me, multiples of two would work, but I haven't tried it. K2,*K into the back, P1*, K2. Repeat the same row over and over front and back. It makes a handsome rib that is completely reversible.
