Historical Society Demo

Cyndy Donohue spins on our PA great wheel while I have a whirl on my Londonderry, NH wheel. We were demonstrating at the Greene Dreher Historical Society open house in Wayne County, PA over the weekend.

Cyndy was spinning some natural colored Finnsheep wool from our sheep that she had cleaned and carded. She used a wool finger to turn the wheel some of the time.

She uses dried corn husks as quills for the great wheel so the spun yarn has a sturdy core that can be slipped onto a metal rod for plying.

What a great way to spend an afternoon...getting to talk about and play with fiber!
