Stranded color knit hat

This is the hat for my grandson, spun from lambswool from our sheep. I used a two color cable cast on and then did three rows of herringbone braid from Charlene Schurch's book Hats On. The herringbone edge turns under and I haven't decided if this is good or bad. On the positive side it gives a nice finished look to the edge, on the other hand one can only see half of the large v-shape.

That hat looks great! The herringbone braid is so smart looking! I'm going to have to give it a try..

And Freds hooks are awesome...

The hat looks awesome. I am going to try doing the hat like you do after Christmas. I like it like that. And I have to agree with Cyndy- Freds hooks are beautiful!

Beautiful hat. I love the pattern. I just recently knit a hat with a hemmed edge, for the first time using a whip stitich. I liked the finiahed look. But it didn't disrupt the pattern. Oddly enough I will be getting a ram with Stllmeadow genetics from a gal down the road in the spring. It will be my first Finn. Stllmeadow farm is 10 minutes a way if I am thinking of the same one. Dereuyter right? Elizabeht Kinney.
